LifeHealth National Medical Director Named State of Maryland’s One of Maryland’s Top 100

Littleton, CO – Gina C. Pervall, M.D., National Medical Director for LifeHealth and Chief of the Medical Advisory Board for the Maryland Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Administration (MDOT MVA), has been named one of Maryland’s Top 100 Women by the Maryland Daily Record.

The program began in 1996 to recognize women who are making an impact through leadership, community service and mentoring. This year, more than 500 nominations were submitted.

Dr. Pervall is truly deserving of this recognition, and we are pleased—although not entirely surprised—that she was selected among the honorees,” says Elisa Hamill, Co-Founder of LifeHealth. “She truly is a servant-leader, and we feel proud and fortunate that she is part of our organization.”

Prior to her current roles, Dr. Pervall served as Medical Director for the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority’s Department of Occupational Health and Wellness and Medical Director of Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory.

Dr. Pervall currently serves, under appointment of the Secretary of the Department of Transportation (DOT), as Chairperson for the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA)* Medical Review Board. Through these engagements, she has been instrumental in developing guidelines and regulations related to workplace safety and medical fitness-to-drive.

These guidelines and regulations have been adopted by both local and federal governments,” says Margot Langstaff, Co-Founder of LifeHealth. “Her experience and leadership in these important occupational health sectors have and will contribute to greater safety not only for drivers, but for the millions of Americans who drive our nations’ roads and highways every day.

Over the course of her 25-year career, Dr. Pervall has screened and examined thousands of patients, employees and drivers, as well as overseen a range of occupational medicine and drug and alcohol programs.

In addition to occupational health, her special interests include sleep medicine and substance abuse medicine. She is also certified as a Substance Abuse Professional by NAADAC, Association for Addiction Professionals and as a Medical Review Officer by the Medical Review Officer Certification Council. She is affiliated with the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, American College of Physicians, American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, American Academy of Sleep Medicine, NAADAC, Association for Addiction Professionals, and National Sleep Foundation.

Dr. Pervall is a graduate of Howard University College of Medicine and completed her residency in Internal Medicine at the Medical College of Pennsylvania. She is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Recipients were honored at a reception and awards program in Baltimore, Md., on April 15.

*FMCSA mission is to ensure safety in motor carrier operations through strong enforcement of safety regulations; targeting high-risk carriers and commercial motor vehicle drivers; improving safety information systems and commercial motor vehicle technologies; strengthening commercial motor vehicle equipment and operating standards; and increasing safety awareness.
