The South Metro Denver Chamber of Commerce dispelled any doubts about the livelihood of business activity on the south side of town on May 21 at the Small Business Leadership Awards 2009. An impressive short list of businesses and their stories were shared at the event, along with jaw-dropping commitment to their respective employees, workplace cultures and, ultimately, giving back to the community. LifeHealth was honored to be one of the top three emerging businesses recognized for their accomplishments. Each nominee was evaluated on the basis of leadership, innovation, performance, prospects for sustained success and community involvement. I was inspired by how much each of these organizations demonstrates an easy harmony between the delivery of their product and the greater good of their community. As professionals, we talk about synergy between the two ideas at great length, but it is thrilling to see the model thrive in reality and, better yet, be celebrated.
